REFUND POLICY

Important: This page provides a general summary of American Language Center’s refund policy. The signed refund policy document governs refunds prior to enrollment. After enrollment begins, the signed Enrollment Agreement governs refunds.

Non-F-1 Students

Domestic / Non-F-1 visa students are eligible for a full refund of their initial tuition deposit, excluding fees (e.g., application and related fees), if they notify American Language Center in writing of their withdrawal at least three business days prior to their first day of classes. Any additional prepaid tuition or charges after the initial deposit are non-refundable.

F-1 Visa from Abroad

  • Students who apply for an F-1 visa from abroad and receive an entry visa are not eligible for a refund of their tuition deposit or any other fees.
  • Students who apply for an F-1 visa from abroad and receive a denial on their visa application are not eligible for a refund of their fees, including fees involved in preparing the documentation needed to apply for an F-1 visa from abroad.

Change of Status to F-1 Visa

Students who apply for a change of status to F-1 visa in the United States and receive an approval on the application are not eligible for a refund of their tuition deposit or any other fees. Refunds will not be issued if USCIS has not yet made a decision on the change of status application.

Students who apply for a change of status in the United States and receive a denial on their USCIS application may be eligible for a refund of prepaid tuition, excluding non-refundable fees, based on the student’s enrollment status and the terms of the signed refund policy. No refund is issued if:

  • the denial is due to an incomplete submission of the application for a change of status

  • the student abandons the application by leaving the United States before a decision has been made

  • the student fails to respond, or responds incompletely, to a USCIS Request for Evidence

  • the student fails to maintain current status while the application is pending. (Example: failing to extend or otherwise maintain current status in the United States while the application is pending)

F-1 Transfer Students

Students who transfer to American LC from another SEVP-approved school are not eligible for a refund of their tuition deposit or any other fees.

Additional Information

All refund requests are processed within forty-five days after the initial written refund request. Fees are non-refundable. There will be no refund for unauthorized withdrawals, including not showing up for classes. Additional terms and conditions may apply as stated in the signed refund policy and any signed enrollment documents.
