Explanation of Fees

Important: Unless expressly stated otherwise in the Enrollment Agreement, fees are non-refundable.

Student Admission Fee

A one-time fee required at the time of enrollment. It may include application processing, admissions review, and enrollment-related administrative services.

Placement Fee (Non F-1 Students)

This fee applies to non-F-1 students who request a placement test prior to enrollment. It is used to cover the cost of administering and evaluating the placement test and is non-refundable, regardless of whether the student enrolls. Payment of this fee does not guarantee admission or enrollment.

Dependent Application Fee (F-1 Students Only)

This fee applies to requests for dependent (F-2) documentation and covers administrative processing and issuance of dependent I-20 forms. This fee may not appear in all Enrollment Agreements and applies only when such services are requested.

Student Activity Fee

This fee supports student services, activities, and school-sponsored events, which may include organized outings and cultural experiences.

Student Government Association Fee

This fee supports activities and events associated with the Student Government Association, including school celebrations and related student engagement activities.

General Fee

This fee helps offset the cost of instructional materials, equipment, administrative resources, and other school-related operational expenses.

TOEFL Preparation Lab Fee

This fee applies to students enrolled in TOEFL Preparation, when applicable, and helps cover program-related testing materials, lab-related resources, and other instructional support costs for that program.

SEVIS I-901 Fee

This fee is paid directly to the U.S. government and is not paid to American LC.

Processing Fee

Where applicable, this fee covers administrative processing related to enrollment, admissions, or other school-related procedures and may not appear in all Enrollment Agreements..

Incoming Wire Fee

Where applicable, this fee helps cover costs associated with receiving international or domestic wire transfers.

Returned Payment / Rejected Transaction Fee

This fee is charged for payments returned or rejected by the bank or payment processor, including but not limited to checks, ACH/E-Check transactions, and other rejected payment methods.

Late Payment Fee

Thisfee is charged for each balance not paid by the due date stated in the payment schedule.

Student ID Fee (Optional)

This fee is charged only if a student requests a physical student ID card. The ID card is not required for enrollment.

Additional Notes

  • Fees are separate from tuition.

  • The initial deposit may include both non-refundable fees and a tuition deposit (prepaid tuition).

  • Students enrolled under an installment plan remain responsible for the full tuition and fees for the semester or program, subject only to the refund provisions in the Enrollment Agreement.
